Each June, organizations celebrate Pride Month to support LGBTQ rights in their offices and communities. However, with Glassdoor finding that more than half of LGBTQ employees have reported experiencing or witnessing anti-LGBTQ comments by co-workers, it is important to carry the momentum and enthusiasm from Pride Month forward to continue championing LGBTQ equality inside and outside the workplace year round. Through public support, partnerships with LGBTQ non-profits, internal company policies, and providing a safe workplace for everyone, companies can demonstrate their true commitment to equality every day.
Last year, we discussed how Personify’s commitment to diversity and inclusion shape the way we do business, internally and externally.
Diversity and inclusion have played a major role in the strategies and initiatives our 7 employee-led committees have championed in 2019. We asked our committee leads to share the work their teams are doing to support D&I at Personify and why it is important to them.
“Our number one goal as the Corporate Wellness Committee is to provide a roadmap for our employees as they achieve happiness over their mind and/or body. Diversity and inclusion is a huge part of our mental wellness program. Part of our job is to bring awareness on this subject to the forefront of our team’s mind, so that we, as a company, grow to be more accepting, humble, and open-minded to situations that are different from our own.” – Patrick Dunigan, Corporate Wellness Committee Chair
“Having a diverse workplace provides an opportunity to drive innovative and progressive change through various individual experiences and backgrounds. Having a diverse workplace without every individual feeling included and immersed into the team is completely counter-productive to working towards diversity, and will ultimately revert back to status quo. We embrace diversity & inclusion through being conscious of our recruiting efforts, team build outs, company events, and regularly celebrating diverse holidays.” – Tripp Poske, Ethics Committee Chair
“Diversity and inclusion are important to have a creative and innovative working environment! If everyone was the same, we would always stick to the status quo. At Personify, we include everyone in all major company events and foster a welcoming work culture.” – Jordan Dean, Community Outreach Committee Chair
“Personify has always been accepting of diversity and proud of the people they hire. There’s never a doubt in my mind that when I step in the doors of this office that every single person will be treated equally and as a member of the family. I’m proud to work for a company that celebrates everyone for who they are and accepts any differences as strengths.” – Lauren Harris, Culture Committee Chair
